I was thinking today how we get into bad habits and how you have to make an effort at quitting or forming new ones. Here are some I thought of:
- Not to make negative comments about people.
- Not to make false accusations.
- Not to imagine grandiose things about yourself.
- Not to think negative thoughts about yourself.
- Not to make negative comments about yourself.
- Don't be so sure you are right.
- Don't have an opinion on everything.
These are all subtractions, now here are some things to practise or make a habit of:
- Think thoughts of thankfulness and praise.
- Speak with encouragement and kindness.
- Speak the truth.
- When you see something that needs doing, do it.
- Lighten someone's load. When you see someone working pitch in and help, especially someone close to you.
- Pray for people, etc. as you go through your day.
- Memorize scripture when doing something boring.
Sometimes just subtracting something helps get us out of our rut.
